Sheriff’s Deputies Visit CTE Students At LoGuidice

Two deputies with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office recently stopped by the LoGuidice Educational Center to discuss their jobs with students enrolled in the Criminal Justice and Small Animal Science programs.

K-9 Deputy Jason Beichner and Deputy Phil Lombardo, who also serves as the department’s community relations officer, talked to juniors and seniors in both programs.

In one of the visits, Beichner introduced his partner, K-9 Drake, to students and put the canine through some of its paces.

The visitors also answered various questions from the Career & Technical Education students. Both explained how they became deputies, how K-9s are purchased and trained, and discussed some of the memorable calls they have answered in their careers.

“We deal with so many things on any given day,” Beichner said.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office routinely partners with Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES through visits and training opportunities with Criminal Justice students and the Chautauqua County Explorers program.
