LoGuidice Hosts CTE Open House, Career Day

The LoGuidice Educational Center recently held its Open House and College & Career Fair. The two-day event began with the Career & Technical Education open house, which included a Chiavetta’s dinner to benefit SkillsUSA students, classroom tours and student demonstrations such as the cider press in the Culinary Arts kitchen, and a basket raffle that included staff and student donations and a few student-created items like a handcrafted stone bench.

The College & Career Fair the following day brought a diverse group of organizations, each offering unique opportunities for students. Colleges and training programs were well-represented, with Alfred State, Bryant & Stratton, Daemen College, ECC (including ECC’s Auto Technology program), Fredonia State, Hilbert, JCC, IUP Academy of Culinary Arts, Lincoln Tech, Niagara County Community College, Ohio Tech, SUNY Canton, UNOH, and UTI all offering information on higher education pathways.

Military branches, including the Air Force, Air National Guard, Army, Marines, US ARMY National Guard, NAVY, and Coast Guard, provided students with insights into service opportunities.

Employers from various fields also took part, with Express Employment, Goodskills Employment, JMI, Basils, Casella, Chautauqua Sheriff Department, E2CCB Adult Education, Painters, Tapers & Glaziers Union (IUPAT District Council 4), IBEW Local 106, Jamestown Fire Department, Job Corps, NOCO, NYS Department of Transportation, NYS Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation, NYS Troopers, Seneca Casinos, Steve St. George, Suite-Kote Corporation, Tree Care of NY, Wegmans, UA Plumbers & Steamfitters Local No. 22, NFTA, NYS Forest Rangers, Stuart Tool and Die, and Chautauqua Institution all on hand to discuss career paths in their fields.
