What To Expect

The Pre-Engineering & Drafting Design program is designed for students interested in engineering applications, mechanical drawing, or graphic design. While using state-of-the-art industry software and manufacturing technology, students are exposed to and work with real-world issues. These include finding solutions to engineering problems, designing consumer products, animating/testing digital models, and managing individual/ team projects. Students utilize project-based, hands-on activities and applied engineering principles in this program. Topics such as materials science, production methods, and product testing allow students to achieve and expand their design interests. This two-year program involves designing, building, owning, and learning. These concepts are enhanced by student participation in a work experience setting during the second year at a local design and manufacturing company. This work experience enhances the skills needed for a rewarding career and provides a head start in further study of engineering-related fields. Students have participated in internship opportunities at Astronics LSI, Fisher Price, Moog, Inc., and local architectural design firms.
