Special Education Services

Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES offers a range of Special Education services designed to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Our programs provide various class sizes, staffing configurations, and instructional models to support student success in inclusive and specialized environments.

Each program is available to all component districts, offering flexible solutions tailored to meet the varying needs of students. Whether through a paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or teacher aide, staffing is adjusted to provide the best possible support for every learner. E2CCB is committed to collaborating with districts, families, and community partners to foster a positive and inclusive learning experience for every student.

This setting is ideal for students with mild to moderate disabilities who thrive in a smaller class size. With one teacher, one paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or teacher aide, the 12:1:1 structure delivers targeted academic and behavioral support. Each classroom’s specific staffing is based on the needs of the students, ensuring flexibility and individual attention.

For students who require more intensive interventions, the 8:1:1 model offers enhanced individualized support. In this setting, one teacher and one paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or teacher aide work together to address the unique learning, social, and emotional needs of each student. The goal is to create a highly structured environment that promotes positive outcomes.

The 6:1:1 setting serves students with significant emotional or behavioral challenges. With six students, one teacher, and a paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or teacher aide, the focus is on delivering intensive therapeutic support alongside individualized academic instruction, providing students with the tools they need for personal and academic growth.

Designed for students with highly complex needs, the 6:1:3 program provides the highest level of staffing, with one teacher and three paraprofessionals, teaching assistants, or teacher aides. This model ensures each student receives continuous, personalized attention to address their specific academic, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The additional staff in this setting allows for more frequent interventions and individualized care.

E2CCB also offers summer programs to extend learning opportunities for students requiring additional academic and social reinforcement. These programs are tailored to help prevent regression over the summer months and ensure students are prepared for the upcoming school year.
